When
you hear the term "Restricted Access Nation" what normally comes to your mind? Do you think about the "hard ground" that needs to be ploughed? Do you think about the heightened security risks
and the possibility of being so paralyses by fear that you
become immobilized? Do you think about "clandestine" type ministry; missionaries that look like 007 agents hiding in dark alleys
and living a life of mystery?
Probably one thing we don't think about is that behind closed doors lie amazing
opportunities to share the love of Christ and that timeless
message that "God draws near to His people WHEREVER they are". This truth-filled statement has been the reality for many RAN workers over
this past year and is a great reminder to us wherever we
are.
Over
this past year (2008), Asia SPAN International has been involved
in many miraculous ministry opportunities in Restricted Access
Asia. We have seen the Olympic Project make way for hundreds
to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and develop relationships
with believers that have developed into decisions to follow
Jesus. We have also seen over 1,200 children impacted with
the message of the love of Christ through our "Camp Hope" program which reached out to migrant children as well as survivors from the
Sichuan earthquake. There have been many opportunities for
RAN workers to simply share their faith story with eager
listeners; a miracle when you consider that these individuals
live in a country where open evangelism is forbidden.
Let
us stop and consider the incredible opportunities that exist
because our God can "make a way where there seems to be no way". Perhaps, in your own context, you need to understand that truth today. Look
for the possible in the impossible; experience the God who
opens closed doors!
