Business "takes off" :: An Update from the field

We are a part of a business that distributes handmade scarves to shop owners in the marketplace. The sale of these handmade scarves provides poor families with stable employment that allows them to send their children to school, have a shelter over their head, and have food on the table. Members of our ASI team are serving in the community where the scarves are made have been able to help meet the physical needs of the people opening the door to minister on a spiritual level.

Because we are a distributor, we have the opportunities to build relationships with store owners. Recently, we had dinner with a devout Muslim family that we see on a regular basis in the market and have been able to strike up a friendship. Over time we have been able to talk about many things including our different faiths. On this particular evening as we were about to eat, I asked if they wouldn't mind if I prayed before the meal. They said yes and so I continued to pray a simple prayer to bless the meal. After I had prayed I looked up and saw they were a bit stunned and taken aback. I don't think they had ever seen someone pray before a meal like that before, never mind pray to God as if he was someone we could have a relationship with. They know of a God, but it is someone that has no real interest in their lives or even someone they could talk to.

This couple is a perfect representation of the Muslim world. How can they ever know if no one goes to tell them? Never in our lives would we have thought that our business would lead us to these incredible opportunities to share the love of God. He is good!
